We are calling all Canadian Baptist churches to join in prayer on Sunday, June 11. The Canadian Baptist Youth team is inviting churches to pray with and for youth together. There are a myriad of ways to do this. You'll find some ideas both for your Sunday service

CE-DR 2017: Day 9

By |2017-03-18T01:33:41-04:00March 18th, 2017|Uncategorized|0 Comments

Home      #everyonebacksafe It's bittersweet, on one hand we feel great about what we were able to accomplish this week. Laying bricks and building the walls faster than our friends in charge of construction expected. On the other hand it's sad to leave the friends that we've made and partners in mission we've gotten to live and work beside the past eight days. We begun the day like any

Cultural Day Before we left our hosts wanted us to soak in some more of the Dominican culture and explore what the city of Santo Domingo has to offer. We visited the Market, bartering for souvenirs and gifts for those back home. We toured the old city, the oldest European settlement in the New World. We also visited the Three Eyes, or Tres Ojos if you're from the Dominican Republic,

Walls and community Work Today was a great day! It started off with singing worship songs on the roof overlooking the city, which I always love. Back to work I was so happy to be a part of our team today. In the afternoon, we took a break from working and walked around the community of Villa Altagracia. We are the first people ever from the Lighthouse to work and walk around in that community. The people were so warm and welcoming to us. I can't wait to go back again and work tomorrow! -Brianna Today was a

We got to give out candy to kids in the community they were all chasing after us.  It was great! -Jemma We went to

First Day of Work at Villa Altagracia We have been anticipating this day for years. A new property. A new challenge. A new opportunity to start duplicating what has been done in Los Alcarrizos. Words cannot express how amazing this moment was as we started bending re-bar, and mixing/pouring cement. The three church team hummed along like seasoned veterans as small members tried lifting cement bags as heavy as themselves,

We all have different tools to help us organize and manage our ministry tasks and projects. Here are some that CBOQ Youth (Alvin) uses. Wrike: This is our primary project management system. We keep all the various responsibilities for all our projects, including events, together. It helpfully allows you to assign various tasks to other people as collaborators (who may not be Wrike users) through their email. They can update

Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”  One of our key Baptistic principles is association, that we can be better when we work together. That includes supporting and being supported by others. In our Canadian Baptist circles, we have different layers of association. Regionally, we have associations (in fact, 16 of them).
