Kevin is pastor\, filmmaker\, husband to Marcy and father to Finn and Rory. At heart he is an Irish storyteller\, who loves sharing God’s story and collecting stories of his own. Rev. Dr. Mona Scrivens is lead pastor at Amberlea Presbyterian Church in Pickering.  She has a passion for the Family…of every configuration. She believes strongly that the role of the Church is to be a support and resource so that families and individual members are nurtured\, strengthened\, and empowered to honour God in their homes and in the whole of their lives.  Mona believes passionately that it is through families that the church extends its reach in nurturing faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Mona was the youth “guy” for many years at Grace Church in Scarborough. At the same time she owned and operated a company called Expectations and was contracted by several hospitals to provide pre and postnatal education. She has been seen on Cityline\, The Women’s Network\, CTV morning shows and a variety of other broadcasts\, communicating her knowledge and passion for the family. DESCRIPTION:Avalanche is more than just a weekend retreat – it is often a life changing experience for many students. \nIt is a chance for junior high students to join with 500 other young Canadian Baptists and see that they are not alone in their journey towards Jesus. Through high quality small group experiences\, musical worship and engaging teaching\, we aim to inspire your students\, whether Christians or not\, to begin taking steps in their young faith journeys. Beyond that there are so many great games\, activities and a lifetime of memories made on this weekend. \nThis years speaker is Alex Street. Alex has a passion to help others discover and do what they’re made for. He is a Leadership Facilitator with LAUNCH – a program of Youth Unlimited GTA – while also serving with The Meeting House as the Young Adults Champion. Alex was a Youth Pastor for 11 years\, has an MTS\, blogs at alexstreet.ca\, hosts the Made For This podcast\, and travels around speaking at conferences\, churches\, and retreats. He is a master illusionist who performed on some of the finest stages from New York to Malaysia\, and appeared on television around the world. He is also an award winning film maker and a sought after speaker. Prior to this\, Derek was in charge of a residence program at Ambrose University\, and coached college basketball for seven years.
