Matt Wilkinson

Director of Next Generation Ministries

Matt Wilkinson is the Director of Next Generation Ministries for the Canadian Baptists of Ontario & Quebec which oversees CBOQ Kids, CBOQ Youth and Camp Kwasind. He is a strategic and visionary leader with a committed passion for the local church to effective engage the next generation with the person and message of Jesus Christ. Matt contributes to the world of youth ministry at both local and national levels. He is currently an Instructor at Tyndale University College, Co-Director of the annual Today’s Teens Conference (a youth and youth workers conference) and author of the book, Youth Ministry: Now & Not Yet. Matt holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University. He has furthered his educational endeavours through studies at Tyndale University College and Seminary, the Arrow Leadership program and a Master of Arts degree focused on Leadership and Evangelism at Wheaton College.

He is married to Charity and they live in Burlington, Ontario with their two children, Grace and Joshua. Matt is passionate about the Maple Leafs, Tim Hortons, camping ministry and creating random adventures.

Alvin LauAlvin Lau

Youth Ministries Associate

Since his baptism at the age of 16, Alvin has been involved in a variety of ministry settings (e.g. student leadership, university campus ministry and local youth ministry). With his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Western University) and Masters of Divinity in Youth and Family Ministries (Tyndale University), he joined CBOQ Youth in 2000 and was ordained in 2004.

Alvin’s role at CBOQ is to serve youth leaders and churches as they pass on the truths of God to the next generation, “the praiseworthy deeds of the Lordhis power, and the wonders he has done.” (Psalm 78:4b NIV)

Alvin with his wife and two adult children are part of the Mimico Baptist Church family.

Next Gen Administration Assistant

Jaimie Wiebe is new to CBOQ as Next Generation administration assistant. Jaimie has been involved in ministry settings since she was 14, primarily in camping, children’s and young adult ministry.  She has spent the last 10 summers working at various camps and has been in full time ministry for the last 2 of those summers. Jaimie is a recent graduate from Emmanuel Bible College (in 2022), with a Bachelors of Religious education in Biblical Studies.  

She has recently moved to Hamilton, with her husband Shawn and have the hopes of getting their own dog soon.
