At Blizzard 1 this past weekend, when people asked me (Alvin) how I felt the weekend was going, my response was, “Too smoothly.” Yes, there were some minute glitches here and there, but generally speaking, things went according to plan. All our churches arrived by 10:00pm. All the waivers were signed properly (I can’t remember if that’s ever happened in the last 38 Avalanches and Blizzards). We were on schedule. There were no hospital runs. Everything seemed to go according to plan.
Sometimes, when things seem to go too well, I get anxious. I’m afraid to let my guard down. I can easily become paranoid that something colossally bad is just around the corner. What I’m also reacting against is becoming too complacent. To remain in that balance between the two extremes, I’m reminded that first, in those moments, just enjoy it, and second, God is still there when things may go wrong.
Duffy Robbins shared how “God has a plan. Man has a problem. You have a choice.” Whether it’s choosing God’s plan for redemption or his plan towards restoration, it’s up to us to choose if we want to follow.
So what will you choose?
P.S. Kudos to Life Support for writing a theme song on “Yesterday. Today. Forever.” just last week and debuting it last Saturday morning.
