A few weeks ago (in fall 2023), First Baptist Church Ingersoll (FBCI) Youth hosted Harvest Friends Outreach event on the lawn in front of our church building on the evening of October 31st. We handed out 50 treat bags and many more cups of hot apple cider to those who stopped by – both kids and parents! The bags included candy treats, Adventures in Odyssey CDs, bookmarks and information about our Children’s and Youth Programming.
Our goal was to reach out to others with the love of God by taking the first step to talk with those in our neighbourhood that God sent our way, and by extending to them a sincere hand of friendship, as demonstrated through our hospitality.  We wanted to make the most of this opportunity to be a light for Jesus in our community and to build relationships in which we can share His love.
Our church is also entering a new float in this year’s Rotary Christmas Parade. The theme this year was Magical Christmas Movies, and we have chosen ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ – Veggie Tales. We chose this movie because its message of hope, love and forgiveness.
This float, as it has been in the past, is a multi generational project with adults, seniors, children and youth working together to paint, create and assemble the float. The parade was on November 18th @ 11 am. There will be those from our church walking with the float, and those at our church handing out free hot chocolate to people in our community who will be watching outside.
On the last Saturday of October our church hosted its first Worship and Praise Night. Our aim was to bring together youth from other local churches and from our community for a night of praise and worship. It was a great evening filled with singing, gifted musicians (vocals, saxophone, keyboard, drums, guitar, piano, organ) and testimony all with the resounding emphasis of God getting the glory out of this! Refreshments were served downstairs afterwards with many staying to fellowship together. We have much to celebrate and be thankful for! We are hoping to make this a semi- regular event in the future. The full event was broadcasted Live on Facebook, and is now available to watch on Facebook and YouTube.
Thank you for your prayers for our Youth Ministry at FBC. We would ask that you would pray as we continue our search to hire a Youth Coordinator, and that we would be in-step with God’s will and what He is doing in the lives of our young people and those in our community.
