CBOQ Next Gen hosted its first Centre Court Jr event. Our marker of success: when a family/small group attending initiates a deeper faith conversation about Jesus and his impact on people.
After a very entertaining Raptors 905 game (in a last-second loss), we were joined by Courtney Charles, VP-Basketball and Franchise Operations with Raptors 905. He took time to share about his own walk of faith both in the workplace, in his upbringing and his family. He also answered questions from our guests. One of his main themes is to find your purpose (which can change over time) and not just strive for it but to also benefit others through it.
Kids ages 4-9 first came on court to dribble through an obstacle course and then shoot on the basketball (or have their parent do it for them). Some ran the obstacle course in their own way.
Those ages 10-17 took the court and participated in our 90-second shot clock contest. While some did lay ups, others took their chance to shoot a three-pointer.
The feedback so far from some of our 140+ guests is that it was a fun, positive experience for their kids/youth. We trust that those faith conversations will continue to rise to the surface in the coming days.
