Last Saturday, we had high school grads, upper year students and campus staff from 18 schools across Ontario at Wycliffe College. Our goal: to connect the class of 2019 to future “older siblings” going to the same campus in September.
Grads had an opportunity to connect personally with those upper year students. They asked questions, gained the inside 411 about their specific campus. Parents had their own track to better understand how to shift in their relationship with their child as well. Students chose from 6 different workshops:
- Managing Your Mental Health
- Discerning Direction
- Having Faith(ful) Conversations
- Arise and Eat (nutrition)
- Finding Your Rhythm
- University Life Hacks
They competed in campus vs campus games. Four upper years addressed specific questions that came from their experience and the audience. We ended with a time of prayer: campuses praying for each other and for all the high school grads as a whole.
Renegotiating Faith reminds us that a high school grad is 3x more likely to remain with a faith community with the support and assistance from their sending church. We pray that those who came from the class of 2019 will not only survive in the next four years, they would thrive for the sake of Jesus.
