First Baptist Church in Ingersoll (FBC‑Ingersoll) has had a full and encouraging season in youth ministry, with several programs and events that have strengthened connection, discipleship, and community life.
Pancake Fundraiser: A Morning of Generosity
FBC‑Ingersoll recently hosted a Pancake Fundraiser that drew over 40 attendees for a warm morning of breakfast and fellowship. Thanks to the generosity of the church family and the wider community, nearly $800 was raised to help make the Ascent retreat more affordable for the church’s youth.
The kitchen team included six youth and three adults, including a parent who is a trained chef. This provided a great opportunity for mentorship in proper kitchen techniques, and the group worked together with wonderful teamwork and energy.Renew Youth: Sundays of Learning and Conversation
The church’s bi‑weekly Sunday morning program, Renew Youth, continues to engage about five young people. The group has been working through The Practicing the Way course on RightNow Media. Two men from the congregation have stepped forward to co‑lead the sessions, offering insight, support, and leadership during discussions.
Haven Youth: Building Identity on a Firm Foundation
Haven Youth, which meets on the first three Mondays of each month, has been using CBOQ’s Rooted curriculum, adapted around the theme On The Rock: Our Identity. His Foundation. The group typically welcomes 8–10 youth.
After the church’s Youth Worker stepped down in January, a volunteer from the congregation stepped in to help lead through the remainder of the program year. In addition, another woman from the church has been serving as a buddy to a student on the autism spectrum who benefits from added support. These volunteers have helped ensure continuity and momentum within the ministry.
Family Games Night and Valentine Outreach
In February, FBC‑Ingersoll hosted a Family Games Night ahead of the Family Day weekend. More than 35 people attended, enjoying a large‑group round of The Bible Is Fun game, followed by board and card games. The evening ended with a build‑your‑own ice cream sundae station, which was a hit with all ages.
Around the same time, children from the BLAST Sunday School program created heart‑shaped birdseed feeders as Valentines for seniors in the congregation. The youth helped deliver them on February 15th, sharing a reminder of God’s care expressed in Matthew 6:26.
Echo Praise Team: Growing in Worship Leadership
The Echo Praise Team, FBC‑Ingersoll’s youth worship group, continues to lead worship about once each month. The youth are steadily growing in confidence and expanding their song list each time they serve.
They are now preparing for a Praise & Worship Night on March 22, with the theme Our Hearts Rejoice For We Are Loved. This free, all‑ages event will welcome both the church and the wider community, followed by refreshments and fellowship. The prayer is that it will be a meaningful time of worship and encouragement for all who attend.
