Many high school graduates just sent in their letters of acceptance. Last Saturday, a number of them gathered to meet some soon-to-be-friends at Transition 101.

This second annual event, co-hosted with Ambassadors for Christ, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, Power 2 Change – Students and Navigators, helped set the trajectory for 60 soon-to-be-frosh (3x the number of grads we had last year). They had a chance to learn about their campuses with upper-year students, delve into critical issues such as identity formation and faith in a post-truth environment plus gain some great university life hacks. Parents had their own track in their own preparations with this next life stage. (We also mixed in some SAT questions and shaving cream … photo evidence to come.)

While we’re still gathering information, anecdotal consensus says this was a worthwhile event. One parent mentioned to me that she felt more confident having her daughter head out to school this fall. We also saw some new friendships form.

We hope the class of 2017 (who will become the class of 2021) will stay strong in Jesus during and beyond their university years.
